Appearance: orange crystal

Application scope:

Used for analysis reagent and gold plating reagent

Chloroauric acid is an orange-yellow crystal, easily deliquescent and soluble in water. Soluble in water, alcohol and ether. Heat breaks down into gold. Storage: keep away from light and place in low temperature. Chloroauric acid is the most common compound of gold. Chloroauric acid is widely used in analytical reagents and gold plating reagents. Chloroauric acid reagents generally contain 4 crystalline water, the chemical formula for AuCl3.HCl.4H2O is a golden yellow or orange needle-shaped crystal. The air is very deliquescent. Lose a water molecule in dry air. Soluble in water but also in alcohol and ether, slightly soluble in trichloromethane. It is corrosive and can leave purple spots on the skin. Anhydrous chloroauric acid can be crystallized from ethanol solution. Gold is generally dissolved in aqua regia to remove nitrogen compounds by evaporation.

Application: [AuCl4]- ions contained in aqueous solution of chloro-auric acid are used to produce many salts (X=F, Cl, Br, I, CN, SCN, NO3) containing AuX4 - ions, which can be used for local gold plating of semiconductor and integrated circuit lead frames, as well as gold plating of printed circuit boards, electronic connectors and other electrical contact elements. Red glass can also be made. Used as an analytical reagent, especially for the microanalysis of rubidium and cesium and the measurement of alkaloid composition. Also used in photographic materials. Chloroaurates, especially NaAuCl4 (produced by the reaction of AuCl3 with NaCl), can replace the toxic mercury (II) salt as the catalyst for the alkyne reaction. At the same time, chloroauric acid has an important application in the preparation of nano-gold. Generally, fluorescence nano-gold prepared by chloroauric acid is directly reduced by reducing agent, which has an important application in analytical chemistry.
